Watch Short video of making Poha Chutney or Avalakki chutney

Poha chutney is a popular instant Konkani recipe made with flattened rice and an instant masala made with ready made powders and tempered with mustard seeds and kashmiri red chili. There are many varients of this recipe and we have demonstrated the simplest one. It is a perfect dish to prepare for breakfast or to have it at evening along with tea.

Author’s note on making Poha Chutney:

Hello all, presenting an instant Konkani recipe on my blog. Poha chutney or Avalakki Chatni (we call it phova chatni) is one of my hot favorites due to its ease of preparation. If you have grated coconut, it hardly takes 5 minutes to prepare it and at the same time it tastes good as well.

Generally I make two variants of this dish. One with mixture of green chili and jaggery (Green poha chutney) and the other one is demonstrated here. Both are easy to make and tastes good too. I didn’t know this variation of Poha chutney and my husband taught me this. He often prepares it whenever we are in a hurry. Infact a beginner too can do it. That is how easy it is.  It is good combination with Idli usli, Batani usli and Sev.

Few suggestions I would like to give is, consume it immediately for better taste. Use the ultra thin flattened rice available in market. If you like onions then add a little finely chopped onion before adding flattened rice. While mixing, mix the ingredients as gently as possible to retain the whole and thin texture of flattened rice.
