Mango Mastani or Mango Milkshake is a cool drink to have during summer. The drink was mainly originated in India (Pune). There is a saying that it is named after Maratha Peshwa Bajirao’s wife Mastani Bai. The word mastani also means awesome. This drink has thick mango milkshake made with pulpy mango and skimmed milk topped with dry friuts, fruits and sometimes whipped cream as well. With all easily available ingredients one can prepare this drink easily at home. We have demonstrated very basic and simple version of this drink.

The idea of making Mango Mastani recipe flashed to me when I saw over ripen mangoes at my home. Making mastani milkshake was the best way I could use them. It takes very less time to prepare this drink. Moreover mango is my favorite fruit and I am damn sure you too will love this drink. I have added basil seeds which in turn cools our body even more. It helps us in getting rid of the heat of summer. Not only alphanso but one can use other variety of mangoes too. All you need to take care of is, the pulp should not be fibrous, it has to be juicy. Mango Mastani | Mast Mango Milkshake | Cook and Eat

Ingredients
  

  • 2 medium sized Mango Alphanso recomended
  • 250ml 1 glass Milk
  • 50g 4 tsp Sugar
  • 100ml Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 25g 2 tsp Basil seeds soaked in water
  • 10g 1 tsp Dry Raisins cut pieces
  • 25g 2 tsp Almond cut pieces
  • 25g 2 tsp Cashew Nuts cut peices
  • 10g 1 tsp Cardamom Powder

Instructions
 

  • Peel off the skin of 2 medium sized Alphanso Mangoes, remove the pulp and put it in a blender. Keep some mango dices for the topping at the end.
  • Add 4 tsp sugar to it.
  • Add 1 tsp cardamom powder.
  • Add 250ml skimmed milk
  • Blend it and transfer it to a jar.
  • Add a little water and pour the left over juice to the jar. Do not add more water. Mastani milkshake is made up of thick pulpy juice. Mix the contents well.
  • Add 2 tsp of basil seeds in each glass soaked in water for around 15 min. Basil seeds helps in cooling the body.
  • Pour the milkshake into the glass
  • Put a scoop of Vanilla ice cream into each glass. Mango ice cream can also be used. Or ice cream can be substituted by whipped cream too. If whipped cream is used then add 2 tsp of sugar extra.

For Topping

  • Put few mango diced pieces. Cherries, plums, strawberry pieces can be added too.
  • Put cut pieces of dry raisins, almonds, cashews on the top
  • Decorate with a spoonful of left over mango juice. And refrigerate it.
  • Chilled Mango Mastani Milkshake is ready to be served.
